Blue Swedish & Buff
|
Blue Swedish
The Blue Swedish Duck is similar in size to Rouens
and are also very hardy. |
|
|
The most interesting aspect of Blue Swedish is the
genetics behind their coloring. If you use breeders colored like
the pair in this picture, only 50% of the ducklings hatch in
the blue/grey color of their parents. Half of the remainder hatch
as black and white and the other 25% hatch as silver ducklings.
Only by crossing the silver with the black and white do you obtain
100% blue/grey ducklings. |

Buff
This breed, also called the Buff Orpington, originated
in England. It is often considered a dual purpose breed, laying
good quantities of eggs and giving a clean appearing carcass
because of their light colored feathers. |
